Salomon Rondon Albion- Baggies pay £12m for Zenit star

West Bromwich Albion have broken their own transfer record after shelling out £12m to sign Jose Salomon Rondon from Russian outfit Zenit St.Petersburg. Rondon’s transfer fee comfortably exceeds the previous record £10m Albion forked out to sign Brown Ideye.

Rondon has signed a four year contract with the Hawthorns. He has also had stints with Malaga and Rubin Kazan, and WBA manager Tony Pulis said he had spoken to Man City boss Manuel Pellegrini, who was Rondon’s manager in his time with Malaga.

Rondon will however not be eligible to play in Albion’s Premier League opener against Man City tonight

Tottenham linked with £3m Olsson move

Tottenham are looking to bring West Brom defender Jonas Olsson to White Hart Lane, in a £3m deal, reports the Mirror.

Spurs had a number of defensive injury problems last season, with Michael Dawson and William Gallas missing large parts of the season, and Ledley King effected by his ongoing knee issues.

The Sweden international has recently admitted his interest in a move away from the Hawthornes: “I’ve been here for four years now and perhaps it is not wise to become to rooted in one place.”

Tottenham have also been heavily linked with a move for Ajax centre-back Jan Vertonghen.
