Anelka to swap Shanghai and London…again

Nicolas Anelka looks set for a sensational return to the Premier League. The Daily Mail reported today that London rivals West Ham, QPR and Tottenham are battling for the striker’s signature. The Frenchman only signed for Shanghai Shenhua in January from Chelsea but has not experienced the most joyful of times since leaving Stamford Bridge.

The paper suggests that much of the potential transfer depends on what, if any, transfer fee the Chinese Super League side ask for, but suggestions that Anelka could be available for free will be sure to alert the more financially astute managers. In recent weeks there has been much speculation that the 33-year-old would attract former strike partner Didier Drogba to Shanghai, as of yet that deal has failed to materialize.

Maradona wants to bring Drogba to UAE

Diego Maradona is looking to steal Didier Drogba from the clutches of Chinese team Shanghai Shenhua. The Sun have reported that the former World Cup winner wants the Ivorian to join him in the United Arab Emirates, believing that his club, Al Wasi, have the resources available to trump the Chinese Super League side.

Reports circulating suggest that Shanghai are willing to offer Drogba £300,000 a week, making the 34-year-old their highest paid player. Though there are thoughts that money isn’t the only thing motivating the former Chelsea striker and a reunion with former boss Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid could still be on the cards. Drogba netted 65 times in 142 games for the Portuguese manager in their time together at Chelsea.
