According to the BBC, Arsenal could announce the arrival of French Striker Olivier Giroud as early as this week. Giroud is currently with the French squad for Euro 2012.
The Frenchman’s manager at Montpellier, Rene Girard, was quoted on RMC, a French radio station, saying “Arsenal are very interested and Giroud wants to play in England, if Arsene agrees with the president, he will sign for them.”
It is understood that Arsene Wenger wants Giroud to partner both new acquisition, Lukas Podolski and crowd favourite Robin Van Persie to form a new front line at the Emirates.
Giroud scored 21 goals from 36 appearances for Montpellier last season, including 2 hat-tricks in the French Lique 1.
The deal is believed to be around £12m.
