Liverpool have joined the race to sign Crewe Alexander’s Nick Powell. The Mirror are reporting that the Merseyside team are set to do battle with Arsenal and Manchester United in an attempt to sign the highly rated midfielder. The paper suggests that Sir Alex Ferguson looks most likely to talk with Powell first after a £2 million bid, rising to £5 million, appears to have been accepted. But Brendan Rodger and Arsene Wenger are also ready to make their move.
The 18-year-old has already feature 51 times for Crewe, despite his tender age, and has netted 14 times for the club. He has played 25 games for England’s youth squads, scoring on 6 occasions. Reports last week suggested that Chelsea were also monitoring the situation.
Dutch international Dirk Kuyt has today been quoted in The Daily Mirror as saying that his future does not lie at his former side Feyenoord, but he is looking at other top European clubs. This comes after a season in which the Liverpool attacker only contributed 5 goals and featured 35 times in all competitions for the Merseyside team, a large cut down on his previous five seasons.
It is unclear who the other clubs that are interested in the 32-year-old are, however he suggests the interest is coming from England, Germany, Spain and Italy. Kuyt is no stranger to transfer speculation, last year he was linked with a big money move to Serie A side Inter Milan, but that failed move to materialize.
According to Goal.com and various other media sources, Liverpool are now leading the race to sign Juventus outcast Milos Krasic. Only few days back Krasic’s agent Dejan Joksimovic was quoted saying (in an interview by TuttoMercatoWeb) “Yes, he wants to leave Juventus. I don’t understand why Antonio Conte didn’t try to get him back to the regular squad. Tottenham or Liverpool? There is not one particular negotiation at the time; several clubs are keen on Milos, believe me. A new experience in Serie A? I don’t think so. He’s done with Italy, and ready to leave. A comeback to Russia? Why not? Any interesting league and project could be fit“.
It is believed that Liverpool want the Serbian winger on loan, but both Juventus and Krasic are interested in a permanent deal only. The Italian club is said to value him at 15 million euros. Other English clubs, including Tottenham and newly promoted Reading have also been linked with a move for him. While it is highly unlikely that Krasic will favour a move to Reading, Tottenham have been linked with him even in the winter transfer window. Few days back, According to Cadena Ser reported that, Villarreal and FC Seville are also interested in the Juventus winger.
Liverpool outcast Alberto Aquilani could finally end his nightmare spell at the club, though his price tag is putting off AC Milan.
The 27-year-old midfielder has been shipped out to Serie A on loan for the past two seasons, playing at Juventus and AC Milan with the latter preparing to bid for the player although reports on the Italian TV station Mediasat suggest that the £7million valuation is too high.
Aquilani played for AC Milan 23 times this season though had he played two more games AC Milan would have had to buy the player automatically.
In a move that could see more clarity on the Fenway Sports Groups plans for post-Dalglish Liverpool, Wigan boss Roberto Martinez is set for talks in Boston on Thursday according to the Daily Mail.
Wigan gave Martinez permission to discuss the vacant Liverpool job last week however it is believed the talks scheduled for Thursday will be the first between the clubs owner John Henry and the Spaniard, as they look set to create a new path in Liverpool’s future with a young manager.
The Merseyside club have been knocked back in their attempts to speak to several managers though the Daily Mail reports that Martinez is John Henry’s preferred choice.

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez could make an Anfield exit, with a move to Spain looking a possibility for the Uraguyan international.
Suarez, 25, has been a controversial figure in the Premier League since moving from Ajax a year and a half ago, scoring 15 league goals, but also spending a long period suspended after being found guilty of racial comments against Man Utd’s Patrice Evra.
The Daily Mail suggests that with the recent sacking of the supportive Kenny Dalglish, Saurez will take the opportunity to move to Spain, where has always wanted to play.
