Fernando Torres has done little to dampen increasing speculation over his future at Chelsea FC.
Speaking to Guillem Balague of The Times and Sky Sports, Torres expressed his deep disappointment at being left out of the starting XI of the Munich UCL final showpiece.
Speaking candidly, Torres states: ‘I’ve felt like they treated me in a way that I didn’t expect because the role I’ve had this season is not for me nor is it the one I expected to play when I came here’.
Torres will join his Chelsea team-mates on a celebratory open top bus tour in the West London area today (Sunday) and will be meeting with Chelsea officials later in the week.
There are believed to be a number of suitors in the English Premier League, Spain’s La Liga and Serie A of Italy.
Swansea City manager Brendan Rodgers has turned down the opportunity to talk to Liverpool over the vacant managers position at Anfield.
It was revealed in the morning papers that Rodgers was one of 12 managers that Reds owners wanted to interview following the sacking of Kenny Dalglish this week, however in a statement on the Swansea City website, Rodgers confirmed that he is not interested in discussing the deal:
“Swansea City can confirm that an approach from Liverpool FC to speak to manager Brendan Rodgers was officially received by club chairman Huw Jenkins this morning.
“The club is pleased to confirm that Brendan has declined the current opportunity to speak to the Anfield club about the vacant position.”
