Newcastle striker Dwight Gayle has said that he is open to making his loan stay at West Bromwich Albion a permanent one in the summer. Gayle has been a revelation in the Championship for the Baggies and is on a season long loan at the Hawthorns from the Magpies.
Gayle revealed that the thought of making the switch permanent had crossed his mind and that “he was very happy playing his football” at Albion. A lot would however depend on whether the Baggies can return to the top flight for the 2019/20 season and what happens to Newcastle in the Premier League this season.
Albion are currently 5th in the Championship table after 17 rounds of footy, five behind leaders Norwich City. The free flowing Baggies though have found the back of the net 37 times so far, more than any other team in the league, and Gayle, with his nine goals, has played a massive role.
He has played a role in some of Albion’s best goals this season, and rates his strike against Stoke as the best technical goal of his career so far in an interview to the Star.
Gayel’s parent club Newcastle are 14th in the Premier League currently, but only one point above the drop zone.
