Ilkay Gundogan is seemingly on his way to Manchester United after Borussia Dortmund officially announced that he will not extend his contract with the club. Gundogan is contracted to BVB till 2016, but has said he will not pen an extension, and that almost certainly means Dortmund will listen to offers for him this summer, or they’ll risk him going for nothing like Robert Lewandowski went to Bayern.
United have been long time admirers of Gundogan, and while he’s struggled for fitness in recent times, he’s slowly reaching his 2012/13 levels where he was a key cog in Jurgen Klopp’s Champions League runners up side.
However reports are now emerging that Gundogan to Man Utd might well become Gundogan to Chelsea as the Blues have entered the race to sign the German star. Like Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho is a big fan of Gundogan and had attempted to bring him to the Bernabeu during his stint at Real. And with rumours linking John Obi Mikel with a move away from the Bridge, Chelsea are said to be very much in the fray to sign Gundogan.
