Liverpool look to Sturridge to replace kop favourite Kuyt

Dirk Kuyt’s decision to move to Fenerbache in search of a new challenge has left Liverpool short of options in the attacking third. New manager Brendan Rodgers sees the Chelsea and England forward as the ideal replacement.

A key component of Andre Villas Boas’ team, Sturridge put in impressive displays, which earned him his two England caps to date. Under Di Matteo however, Sturridge has found his playing opportunities limited as Chelsea returned to the old guard to win the FA Cup and the Champions League. The signing of Eden Hazard and Hulk’s proposed move will push Sturridge further down the pecking order.

According to the Daily Star, Liverpool face a £15 million tug of war with former club and premier league champions Man City, as manager Mancini is keen to bring him back to Manchester.
