Manchester United contact Everton over Leighton Baines deal

According to the Mirror, Manchester United Chief Executive David Gill has approached Everton intent on brokering a deal for England left-back Leighton Baines.

The 27-year-old will shortly travel to Euro 2012 has emerged as one of David Moyes’ most influential signings and it is common knowledge that he has attracted interest from Manchester United in recent times though it remains to be seen if this move will have an impact on current United left-back Patrice Evra’s position within the squad.

The Mirror report that the deal is in the region of £12million and its thought that Bill Kenwright may be willing to sell in order to give David Moyes money to strengthen the Everton squad.
