According to reports emerging from the Netherlands, PSV winger Steven Bergwijn has caught the eye of several big Premier League clubs, with Manchester United and Liverpool both said to be interested in the youngster. The Reds even sent scouts to PSV’s recent Champions League game against Inter (the one they lost 2-1 after leading 1-0)
There were reports that Bergwijn, who at 21, is already considered to be a similar player to Sadio Mane, had a 20 million euro release clause, but Dutch sources have claimed that to be untrue, meaning that any potential suitors would have to stump up more than just 20 million- a steal in the current market for a player of his potential. Under pressure German coach Joachim Low inched closer to an exit after Die Mannschaft crashed to another Nations League defeat, this time at the hands of France in Paris.
To his credit, Low’s side looked the better of the two till France’s equaliser, after which Les Bleus dominated and won the fixture thanks to a brace from Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann.
The loss means that Germany have lost six in a calendar year for the first time in their history and are in danger of being relegated from their Nations League Group. In three games, the Germans have scored only one goal (a penalty from Kroos in Paris) and have lost two- one was the French defeat, and the other was a chastening 3-0 humbling in Amsterdam against the Netherlands, who failed to qualify for the World Cup. Anthony Martial may end up staying at Manchester United this summer after being prominently used to model the club’s new 18/19 season third kit that was released yesterday. The blue and gold Adidas number, was also modelled by Sanchez, Lukaku and Pogba (effectively three “unsellable” players), which means that Martial may well have a future at Old Trafford despite rumours linking him to Juve and Inter.
However, should one put trust in these things? Wayne Rooney, for instance, featured prominently in Everton’s new shirt launch last month, but is now said to be leaving the club for the MLS.

With just over a day of the transfer market left, Man City are considering a serious late bid for Leicester City’s Algerian star Riyad Mahrez. But the Foxes, who have let Ahmed Musa and Leonardo Ulloa go on loan to Spartak and Brighton respectively, are, as expected, not pleased to let one of their star players go this late in the window, but will reportedly consider all “exceptional” offers.
Whether the 60 million pound bid that City are considering making qualifies as exceptional, we’re not sure, with Leicester wanting more in wake of the insane amounts that the likes of Philippe Coutinho and Virgil van Dijk have commanded in this window.
