Porto striker Hulk has again reiterated his desire to move to Chelsea, as the proposed move to the European Champions continues to draw on without progression.
Hulk, 25, told O Jogo magazine: “Chelsea are the current European champions and would please any player and I’m no exception. I’d be happy if the transfer happened.”
The Brazilian striker had another successful season with Porto, scoring 16 goals in 26 league appearances, and has also netted 3 in 5 matches for Brazil.
According to The Guardian Chelsea have agreed a fee of £38 million for the Brazilian international forward Hulk of Porto.
The Brazilian has been a long time target for the English club. His record with Porto in the past four season is truly incredible. He has scored 76 goals and made 55 assists in 166 appearance for the Portuguese gaints. During previous transfer windows, it was reported that newly rich Russian club Anzhi Makhachkala made an audacious bid for the forward, who had a €100 million release clause in his contract. Chelsea have managed to lower that release clause by a significant margin.
The news of Chelsea agreeing a deal for Hulk comes only days after it was confirmed that the London club has agreed a deal of £32 million with Lille for Eden Hazard. This already takes Chelsea’s spending for this summer beyond £70 million. With Roberto Di Matteo’s future is still unclear, Roman Abramovich has been calling the shots in the transfer market. While Didier Drogba leaving the club, Torres is expected to lead the line. Hazard, Mata, Torres and Hulk will form a very potent attack, atleast on paper.
Porto are set to delay the move of Brazilian striker Hulk in what is turning out to be one of the longest transfer sagas of the last few years. Chelsea have been in the hunt for the 25-year-old since last summer and just as it looked as though the deal was set to happen, The Daily Mirror are reporting that Porto are now demanding more money. The Mirror suggests that Chelsea were set to get their man for £30 million but the Portuguese champions are now asking for £40 million instead.
Hulk has been in fine form over the last few seasons netting 52 goals in 96 games for Porto since 2008 but Chelsea will be wary of overpaying, after all they have been stung before.
After becoming increasingly frustrated at the time it’s taking his move to develop, the Porto forward Hulk is now looking to hand in a transfer request in a bid to speed up his move to the new European champions Chelsea. According to the times the fee would need to be in the region of £35 million for Porto to consider the move.
The Brazilian who has an impressive goal scoring return of 52 goals in 92 games, has been in Portugal since 2008 but now has his heart set on a move to the Premiership.Hulk is an interesting character as had rarely struggled to settle in the early years of his career, eventually finding his feet in Japan playing over a 100 games. As his name might suggest he is known for his explosive power and would surely be a likely replacement for Didier Drogba.
With the departure of Didier Drogba, Chelsea are looking for a striker to relieve some of the pressure on Fernando Torres, and the Daily Mail has today reported that Porto star Hulk is the man they want to do this.
Chelsea have been linked with the Brazilian over the last few transfer windows, however it was previously believed that the club would have to meet the strikers whopping £80 million release clause. It is now reported that the striker is much more open to a move to the Premier League, and a bid of around £35 million could be enough to prise him away from the Portuguese club. The striker boasts an impressive 21 goals in 38 appearances for his club this season, and could provide a long term solution to the departing of Didier Drogba, especially with rumours about Torres’ happiness circulating.
