Arsenal are continuing their search for another striker after revelations that Arsene Wenger is tracking the Euro 2012 Russian sensation, Alan Dzagoev.
The Daily Star claims that German newspaper Bild, reported that Arsenal are ready to make a £13m bid to acquire the player who currently plays for CSKA Moscow. Dzagoev’s contract ends in December making it more likely that the Russian club would accept the offer.
Alan Dzagoev has sparked interest from Europe’s top clubs after his great start to Euro 2012. He’s scored 3 goals in his first 2 games in the tournament as he helps Russia progress. The 21 year old has scored 26 goals for CSKA Moscow since joining them in 2008.
Arsenal are looking to strengthen their squad with the signing of German striker Lukas Podolski already complete and Oliver Giroud in the pipeline.
Arsenal fans have been told to prepare themselves for another summer of uncertainty after chief executive Ivan Gazidis has warned that Robin Van Persie’s contract issues are far from over. The Daily Mirror report that Arsene Wenger wanted to tie up the Dutch international’s contract before the European Championships but after weeks of negotiations Gazidis has claimed a solution is ‘weeks away’.
This comes just a day after the 30-year-old was quoted in The Sun praising Serie A side, Juventus. It is thought that the Italian champions are favourites to sign Van Persie and this latest development is sure to alert them. Reports last week suggested Manchester City were keen to make the PFA player of the year their fifth Arsenal signing in 3 years.
Liverpool have joined the race to sign Crewe Alexander’s Nick Powell. The Mirror are reporting that the Merseyside team are set to do battle with Arsenal and Manchester United in an attempt to sign the highly rated midfielder. The paper suggests that Sir Alex Ferguson looks most likely to talk with Powell first after a £2 million bid, rising to £5 million, appears to have been accepted. But Brendan Rodger and Arsene Wenger are also ready to make their move.
The 18-year-old has already feature 51 times for Crewe, despite his tender age, and has netted 14 times for the club. He has played 25 games for England’s youth squads, scoring on 6 occasions. Reports last week suggested that Chelsea were also monitoring the situation.
Roberto Mancini has responded to talk that he is weighing up an offer for Robin Van Persie. The Daily Mail have the Manchester City manager quoted as saying that he believes a deal for the Arsenal striker, in the region of £25 million, is possible given the current contract issues he is having with the club.
The English champions are no strangers to the Arsenal transfer list having signed Samir Nasri, Gael Clichy, Kolo Toure and Emmanuel Adebayor in the previous few seasons from the North London club. But this time it could prove a little more difficult with Arsene Wenger fighting tooth and nail to keep Van Persie at the Emirates. The striker found the net 30 times last season in 38 league games.
Nigel de Jong has appeared on the radar of Arsenal boss, Arsene Wenger. The Daily Mirror are reporting that after the breakdown of talks with Rennes midfielder Yann M’Vila, Wenger is turning his attention closer to home. Arsenal had earmarked up to £17 million for M’Vila so it is unlikely that CIty will price De Jong out of their range.
Having been a consistent performer in past seasons De Jong failed to make an impact on City’s first title win, only making 14 league appearances, over half of that in the previous two campaigns. It is thought that Mark Hughes is also monitoring the situation, believing that reuniting with the player he signed for City in 2009 would help propel QPR to the next level.
The agent of Lazio right back Stefan Radu has responded to suggestions that the Romanian could be leaving Rome and heading to the English top tier. The Independent have quoted him as saying that they are in talks with people in England and that there are three clubs interested in signing the 25-year-old.
Speculation as to who these clubs are is so far unconfirmed but it is thought that Manchester City and Arsenal are amongst the clubs battling for his signature. Of course City are linked to most players at the moment but with Bacary Sagna breaking his leg for the second time this season, Arsenal could be exploring new options in that position. Radu has played just short of 100 games for Lazio since arriving in 2008.
France’s powerhouse defensive midfielder, Yann M’Vila has today had all talks of a transfer away from Rennes put on hold after the club told those interested ‘Wait until after Euro 2012’. The Metro are claiming that this next step in M’Vila’s transfer saga is due to the club believing that more of Europe’s elite will be interested in him after he showcases his talents in the championships.
This is sure to put a spanner in Arsene Wenger’s transfer plans as he was looking to finalize a deal for the French player before the tournament. Last summer his attempts were thwarted by Rennes wanting £25 million, whereas now it is thought they would accept a bid of around £15 million. Inter Milan are amongst other clubs vying for M’Vila’s signature.
With only one year left on his contract at Arsenal, The Daily Mail are reporting that winger Theo Walcott is seeking talks to find out how he will feature next season for manager Arsene Wenger. The 23-year old‘s position at Arsenal could be under threat with the arrival of Lucas Podolski and the continued emergence of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
These crunch talks will be alerting London rivals Chelsea, after suggestions that owner, Roman Abramovic, would like to add Walcott to his frontline. It is thought the European Champions are weighing up an offer in the region of £20 million, though it is unlikely that Arsenal would be willing to sell one of their first team regulars to a top four rival.
Arsenal are looking into the possibility of signing French International, Olivier Giroud, to strengthen their options going forward ahead of the 2012/13 season. The Montpellier striker has been prolific this season, contributing 25 goals and 9 assists in league and cup and playing an instrumental part in Montpellier’s first ever league championship.
Giroud finished the season as the league’s top scorer and earned himself a call-up to the French preliminary squad for the Euros. Affectionately dubbed as “The Charm Striker” by the French media as a reference to his good looks and personality, on the field the 25 year old is known for his size and physical style of play. Arsene Wenger believes Giroud to be the perfect option to partner Robin Van Persie and add some robust and vigour to his side.
According the The Mirror, Arsenal are ready to offer £6.5 million plus Marouane Chamakh to Montpellier for the Frenchman’s services. Chamakh, 28, has failed to impress at the Emirates since moving on a free transfer in 2010 and is now considered suffice to requirements at the North London club.
